Nikola Tesla:
The Genius who Predicted our Present and our Future
by Olya Perkovic
In honor of the Serbian American inventor who first discovered the ability to listen to stars through radio waves, here is a list of his inventions and innovations:
-
The Wireless System was a telecommunications and electrical power delivery system invented by Nikola Tesla based on his theories about earth and atmosphere acting as electrical conductors.
-
Through his alternating current system, electricity could be transmitted over long distances easily and efficiently.
-
Tesla is responsible for radio transmission, remote controls, fluorescent lighting, automotive starter coils, and even encoding multiple signals into a single frequency for broadcast and digital processing.
-
Tesla's most important inventions include the polyphase system, the rotating magnetic field, the asynchronous motor, and the Tesla transformer.
-
Tesla was reinstated as radio inventor by the US Supreme Court, several months after his death.
-
Tesla had about 700 patents around the world.
-
The General Conference on Weights and Measures named the SI unit of magnetic flux density after him, immortalizing his name. MRI machines, which were developed almost a century later, are calibrated in Tesla Units.
-
He was inducted into America's Inventors Hall of Fame in 1975. The Nikola Tesla Award is the most prestigious award in the field of electrical energy. The award has been given annually since 1976.
Tesla was born at midnight, on July 10th,1856 in Smiljan, Lika (at the time, a territory of the Austrian Empire) into a Serbian Orthodox family.

Ascendent sign: Aries 12', Ashwini pada 4.
Moon sign: Virgo 22', Hasta pada 4.

Planets are concentrated in three houses and their significance is immediately evident—3rd, 6th, and 12th. All of them are dusthana houses. Having both Moon and Ascendent ruler in the 6th house, aspected by Rahu and exalted Jupiter, we immediately know that Tesla's life journey will be grand and unique, but also challenging with many setbacks.

Being an Aries Ascendent, he is naturally a pioneer, a young spirit, strong-willed, competitive, ambitious to lead or be the first. These qualities are even further enhanced by the fact that Mars, ruler of Ascendent, is in the 6th house.
6th house significance
The 6th house falls in Virgo with Moon, Mars, ruler of the 1st house, and Ketu, ruler of Ascendent Nakshatra (Ashwini). We can immediately gauge several things:
His intuition, visionary thinking, and clairvoyance (Moon, Ketu) are strong. Tesla was a visionary man from a very young age. Seeing Niagara Falls in a drawing, Tesla told his uncle that he would harness the falls one day. Years later, in 1896, he would harness Niagara Falls' power.
-
He is both shy, introverted (Virgo with Moon, Ketu) and an intellectual rebel (Mars with Ketu in Mercury sign).
-
He inherits his mother's powerful intuition and her skilled hands. (Moon in Hasta nakshatra).
-
He will face rivals and enemies and even engage in lawsuits or disputes. Because this is a natal placement, conflicts can be expected throughout his life, especially in the Mahadasha of Jupiter, Rahu, and Ketu. Chitra nakshatra brings false accusations and attacks from enemies (first house ruler in Chitra).
-
His siblings can present obstacles (Mars placement with opposing Rahu).
-
His health can suffer at times, especially during Mars, Rahu, and Ketu Mahadashas. Strong headaches can be experienced with this conjunction.
With a stellium of planets and Mars (energy, activity) in the 6th house, in Virgo, he is a workaholic and relentless in his intellectual pursuits. Mars in Chitra tells us he will be committed to his creation, making his work shine. Chitra (the brilliant one) is visually striking, and at the same time connected to mystery, secretive information, akashic records. It was said that his experiments were fascinating to watch for the public. His inventions were indeed explosive since Mars and Ketu are only 1 degree apart.
-
Perfectionism and a dose of obsession goes into daily work and daily routine (6th house Virgo).
The sign of Virgo is an intellectual sign, but it is also a sign of disease, digestion, and intestinal problems. Due to Mars and Ketu in Virgo (Ketu also aspects the 2nd house) Tesla was set to experience unusual illnesses and habits. His diet was specific. He became a vegetarian later in life, eating and walking daily at the same time. He slept 2 or 3 hours a day throughout his life and spent all his time working and experimenting.
-
He was extremely thin and tall. (Ketu-like appearance).
Mars in the 6th house can increase debt or lead to poor financial standing. In addition, Ketu's aspect on the 2nd house (earnings, income) and very strong 12th house (expenditure) will result in accumulation of debt and outflow of money in his investments.
Ketu aspects 10th house, giving him unusual interests and experiments in his work and profession. Ketu (the flag) makes him stand out and leave a mark in his field.
Moon, Mars, Ketu close conjunction (Moon 22', Mars 27', Ketu 28' of Virgo)
-
His mind is sharp, focused, independent, secretive, visionary, introverted, and deeply spiritual. A mind is always on the lookout for what is not visible (Ketu).
-
Tesla inherited a tendency toward research work from his mother. (Moon, Ketu)
-
Spiritual, interested in ancient knowledge and practices, and capable of completely transforming daily life. (He abandoned poor habits from his youth and adopted a vegetarian diet later in life).
-
An OCD can be caused by this conjunction as it afflicts the Moon. Tesla reportedly washed his hands too frequently and was obsessed with hand hygiene (Rulers in Virgo, Moon in Hasta). After using his bow ties once, he would throw them away.
-
Moon, Mars (rules first house) with Ketu in 6th - Electrical engineering is clearly shown here and strongly supported in terms of scientific research and application (sign of Virgo analytical, practical, and detailed).
-
Furthermore, Ketu is the ruler of the Ascendant nakshatra (Ashwini), so all three planets represent his personality, appearance, and his path. As the years went on, he gained a reputation as a tall, exceptionally thin, elegant, stylish figure in New York City, meticulous in his grooming and clothing, and disciplined in his daily routine.
-
This stellium of planets is aspected by exalted Jupiter (Jupiter in Pisces is in the 12th house with Rahu), making him even more inclined towards research, hidden knowledge and deep interest in metaphysics and spirituality.
-
Chitra nakshatra outshines others and attracts a lot of jealousy, complications, and legal battles.
-
Ketu in Chitra is associated with intrinsic awareness, knowledge on hidden matters. With two prominent planets in Chitra (ruler of Ascendent sign and ruler of Ascendent nakshatra), bringing hidden knowledge to the light of the day becomes a mission for him.
12th house significance
He is an Aries ascendant, so his 12th house is naturally in Pieces. Jupiter and Rahu are placed in the 12th house in Revati nakshatra. Revati is ruled by Mercury, which adds an extra layer to the influence of Mercury with the stellium of planets in Gemini and Virgo.
-
Spirituality / foreign lands / isolated places
-
Independent research and experiments
-
Ancient wisdom and modern science (Jupiter, Rahu)
-
Invention of new and futuristic patents. as Jupiter is both exalted and expanded by Rahu.
-
Foreign lands have a great deal of significance in his life. Tesla studied in Graz (Austria) and Prague (Czechia): worked in Budapest (Hungary), Paris (France), and immigrated to New York (USA).
-
A strong 12th house provides the native with the ability to recover from illness. In several very severe cases, he survived. Both malaria and cholera struck him, but he recovered from both.
-
Jupiter, Rahu aspecting the Moon and Mars (his physical body, but also his dwelling) - he mostly lived in hotels (12th house).
-
Some of his inventions and patents led to the development of medicinal equipment.
-
Revati is a wealth-giving nakshatra. Although Tesla had a difficult financial situation generally, he achieved financial success and gains at some point.
-
Tesla was well known for his interest in Vedic sciences and ancient scriptures. His friendship with Swami Vivekananda (Jupiter, Rahu in Pieces), a yogi and a guru from different cultures and religion), was widely known.
3rd house significance
The 3rd house describes intelligence, skills, communication, short travel, siblings, activity, and our efforts. As he is an Aries Ascendent, his 3rd house is in Gemini, which additionally underlines the significance of Mercury.
-
The 3rd house is magnified by another stellium of planets. Tesla has Sun, Mercury, Venus, and Saturn in the 3rd house. He spent much of his childhood in his father's rich library. Tesla said: “I read a lot of books, and by the age of 24, I knew many of them by heart, especially Goethe's Faust."
-
Tesla's Mercury is in Gemini (its own sign, Mrigashira nakshatra), indicating he is a passionate reader, he is constantly researching (Mrigashira), and he has skilled hands (Mercury in Gemini in 3rd house, Moon in Hasta). Tesla was said to have very large hands, especially thumbs. He played cards, gambled, and played billiards (Hasta nakshatra). It was recorded that he spoke eight languages: Serbo-Croatian, Czech, English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, and Latin.
-
Mercury is conjunct Saturn (logic, memory, seriousness, mental focus, and discipline). Chitra nakshatra additionally is associated with photographic memory.
-
His superior intelligence and logic are enhanced by Saturn in the 3rd, but he and his siblings will be prone to illness and accidents. Tesla's older brother Dane was killed in an accident when Tesla was six (6th house activation). When we apply bhavat bhavam his older brother's third house falls in Aries (Ashwini). He was thrown from a horse and died accidently, and his eighth house (accidents and sudden events) contains aggressive Moon, Mars, Ketu conjunction. It was the Mars Mahadasha for Tesla.
-
Saturn with Mercury will also disrupt his education (he studied in Graz and Prague but did not complete his studies).
-
Venus is placed in Gemini, which is not the greatest dignity for Venus. Venus is in a difficult position when Saturn is aspected by the Sun. (Sun and Saturn in Gemini). Additionally, Sun burns Venus (Sun is at 25' and Venus, at 23'). Tesla's Mars (Ascendent ruler) is at 27 degrees of Virgo, which is the exact degree of Venus’s debilitation. Known for his ascetic lifestyle, Tesla never married. The Venus Mahadasha was active at the very end of Tesla's life.
Planetary activations / Events in life with Bhrigu Sarral Paddhati techniques
Tesla was born at the end of the Moon Mahadasha (Moon in Hasta pada 4). As a child, he was in his Mars Mahadasha (May 15th, 1857-May 15th, 1864). Most of his inventions would come to life during the Rahu Mahadasha period (May 15th,1864 - May 16th, 1882). In this period, Rahu is joined by Jupiter and aspects of key planets (Moon, Mars, Ketu), making this period (between the ages of 8 and 26) significant.

It is during Jupiter Mahadasha (May 16th, 1882 - May 16th, 1898) that all research and experiments start showing results and expanding further, but it wasn't all a smooth ride. Between the ages of 26 and 42, he actively engaged in both scientific and spiritual pursuits (Jupiter with Rahu in the 12th house in Pisces).

BSP: Moon activates at the age of 18. Not only does he have the Moon in Virgo in the 6th house conjunct Mars, Ketu, but the 6th house also represents the 18th year in life. Tesla became ill with cholera and remained ill for 9 months. His illness persuaded his father to finally allow him to study engineering.
BSP: The 11th from Saturn implements at the age of 19. This is the activation of his first house. He was already interested in using alternating current when he was 19 years old. Mars being the 1st house ruler with Ketu (Ascendent nakshatra ruler), Tesla studied electrical engineering. A professor of electrical engineering laughed when Tesla first proposed his idea, saying it was a perpetual motion machine that would never work. By his third year in school, he was failing and never graduated, leaving Graz in December 1878.
His 11th house became active again at the age of 23 during his Rahu Mahadasha. It activated 11th house rulers Saturn and Rahu. Transiting Saturn was crossing Jupiter (his 9th lord) and Rahu. In April 1879, his father passed away.
BSP: Mars activation occurs at 24 years old. With activated Mars and Ketu in Virgo, Tesla goes to Prague to complete his studies. Again, after some attendance (both Mars and Ketu are cuts and brakes), he leaves.

Tesla was at the beginning of his Jupiter Mahadasha at the age of 27. It was in Strasbourg in 1883 that Tesla signed his first business contract related to the realization of the first induction motor. Tesla emigrated to New York the next year after he was encouraged by his project manager and the work they did together in Paris.
Tesla’s Alternating Current
Tesla succeeded in constructing the first brushless alternating current electric motor. Tesla Electric Company was founded in April 1887. Due to its advantages in high-voltage transmission over long distances, Tesla developed an induction motor that ran on alternating current (AC). He competed with Thomas Edison for power transmission standards.

BSP: Mars activates at age of 32 its 4th aspect (9th house activation). Tesla has exalted Jupiter as his 9th lord. In 1888 he demonstrated his invention before the American Institute of Electrical Engineers. In the same year he developed the principle of his Tesla coil and began working with George Westinghouse in his laboratories.
BSP: Mercury implements its energies in the 8th house from itself in the 32nd year, which is Tesla’s 10th house (career, status).
BSP: Saturn implements itself at the age of 32 or in its 10th aspect which falls on his Ascendant, bringing significant events. As Saturn is his 10th and 11th lord this is a career and status related event.
BSP: Jupiter implements itself in 32nd year, which activates his exalted Jupiter in the 12th house with Rahu, showing timing of significant invention that would change everything and impact the future of modern science and wider industry.
US Citizenship
Tesla became a US citizen on 30 July 1891, the same year he patented his Tesla coil.

The Death of Tesla’s mother
Saturn becomes active at the age of 36. It was 1892 and Tesla travelled to Europe. First, he presented a sensational lecture at the British Institute of Electrical Engineers on "Experiments with alternating currents of high potential and high frequency." He then spent a month in Paris searching for investors for his new polyphase electricity system.

He learned via telegram that his mother was deadly ill. He left Paris and arrived at his mother's bedside, a few hours before she died on April 15th. Saturn in 3rd in Gemini in Ardra (he receives the sudden news and quits his trip); 3rd house is the 12th from the 4th house (his mother is in danger of dying). In addition, transiting Saturn is in Virgo (Moon which signifies the mother is in Virgo, in the 6th house), Ardra was once more experienced as the star of tears. After his mother’s death, Tesla fell ill.

Chicago World's Fair in 1893
BSP: Jupiter implements itself at age of 37. His Jupiter is exalted in Pisces, with Rahu. Tesla was invited by Westinghouse Electric to participate in the World Fair in Chicago. Tesla had a large space dedicated to electrical exhibits in the "Electricity Building." Having won the bid to light the Exposition with alternating current, Westinghouse Electric became a key player in AC power history, showing safety, reliability, and efficiency of an alternating current system that was polyphase, in addition to providing power for other AC and DC exhibits.

A special exhibit featured Tesla's induction motor. Tesla displayed several other inventions at the exhibit. In a specially darkened room, wireless gas-discharge lamps were lit using high-voltage, high-frequency alternating current. His inventions have now been shown in both Europe and America.

Science and Spirituality
Tesla made the following remarks in 1888 during a speech before the American Institute of Electrical Engineers: "Space is filled with energy. Is it static or kinetic? Our hopes are in vain if static; if kinetic, it is a matter of time before men are able to attach their machines to the wheelwork of nature."
Tesla and Vivekananda
Nikola Tesla and Swami Vivekananda met on February 13th, 1896. The yogi and the inventor formed a friendship. His Jupiter, Rahu, Rahu period indicated spiritual pursuits, but also the presence of a Guru from another culture, religion, or background. Incredibly, he met Swami Vivekananda, Indian religious teacher and philosopher who popularized Vedanta and Yoga in the West.
BSP: Jupiter will implement itself in the house where he is in the 40th year of a native’s life.
BSP: Jupiter will implement its 9th aspect in the 9th house from the place it is in the 40th year of a native’s life. (in Tesla’s chart it is 8th house of spirituality, secret knowledge, and research)
They discussed the three Vedantic concepts of prana, akasha, and kalpas. Tesla assured Vivekananda that a long tradition in Hinduism could find an echo in modern science. According to Tesla, force and matter can be reduced to potential energy mathematically. While Tesla was unable to demonstrate mass and energy equivalence himself, Olinto de Pretto and Albert Einstein published E=mc2 just a few years later.

His famous quote said: "If you want to discover the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration."

Swami Vivekananda said: "Some of the best scientific minds of the day have told me how wonderfully rational the conclusions of Vedanta are. One of them personally, who barely gets out of the laboratory or eats his meal, will stand by the hour to attend my Vedanta lectures; because, as he puts it, they are so scientific, they harmonize with the aspirations of the era and with the conclusions of modern science at the present. “
Wireless Power
In 1891, Tesla patented his most famous invention. The Tesla Coil Transformer is the basis for wireless power transmission. Wireless transmission was Tesla's major research focus between the 1890s and 1906. Moreover, he saw this as a means of transmitting worldwide communications. In 1893, he announced wireless communication potential with his devices. The Wardenclyffe Tower was Tesla's attempt to put these ideas into practice, but he soon ran out of funds.

Jupiter Mahadasha ended with a reversal of fortune theme of Punarvasu nakshatra. Sun, Venus, and Brighu Bindu are in Punarvasu (Jupiter's nakshatra). Despite his financial gains and his successes with AC inventions and Westinghouse, he returned to poverty.
Saturn Mahadasha (May 16th 1898 - May 17th 1917)
Saturn is in Gemini, Ardra nakshatra. Rahu's influence on Ardra makes him an outcast and rebellious force, but also explosive and destructive. As Saturn rules his 10th and 11th houses of status and social standing, he was often rejected, and his accomplishments were not given the recognition he deserved. It was often the case that he was cheated both financially and with his patents. He was not able to finance his inventions or receive the bonus awards as agreed.

BSP: Wherever Saturn sits he creates Ups & Down in the 4th house from it, in minimum any one signification of that house’: This becomes his Karmic House called as ‘Shani's Previous Lives House.'

It is vital to mention that 4th from Saturn is the 6th house that I have emphasized many times in the previous chapters. Tesla has experienced ups and downs of the 6th house significance through his entire life.

-
At the age of 43 Rahu activates. (Rahu is in 12th with exalted Jupiter.) Tesla built an experimental station in Colorado Springs in 1899. A terrestrial stationary wave, according to Tesla, will allow electricity to be sent around the world.
-
Ketu activates at the age of 48 (Ketu in the 6th aspecting 2nd and 10th house). In 1904, J.P. Morgan refused to fund Tesla's Wardenclyffe tower any further.
-
Saturn activates at 51 in its placement. Saturn is in 3rd house, as his 10th and 11th lord. Tesla was elected to the New York Academy of Sciences.
In 1914, World War I began, and George Westinghouse died. Tesla went bankrupt in 1916, and Wardenclyffe Tower was taken over by the Waldorf Astoria owner as a debt settlement. At the end of Saturn Mahadasha the tower was demolished.

Nobel Prize Rumors
The Reuters reported on 6th of November 1915 that Thomas Edison and Nikola Tesla had won the Nobel Prize in Physics. Lawrence and William Henry Bragg received the prize that year "for their contributions to X-ray crystallography." Biographers of Tesla claim Edison and Tesla were the original recipients, but neither was given the award due to their animosity toward one another.
Mercury Mahadasha (May 17th, 1917- Until May 17th, 1934)
On the first day of Mercury Mahadasha, Tesla received the gold Edison medal (May 18, 1917). A thought was expressed that if Tesla's inventions stopped working at one time, industry, trams, and trains would stop, cities would remain dark, and factories would cease to operate. Tesla received a medal with the name of a man who was his bitter opponent and who lost that battle to him, but Edison eventually became wealthy, while Tesla was left with only recognition.

In his Mercury Mahadasha Nikola Tesla also received honorary doctorates from technical schools and universities in Belgrade, Zagreb, Vienna, Graz, Prague, Poitiers, Brno, Paris, Bucharest, Grenoble, and Sofia. In 1928, he was granted the last patent for an aircraft that took off and landed vertically.
On Tesla's 75th birthday, several prominent scientists sent him congratulatory letters. Their greetings indicated the hope if not the confidence that "in a few months" or "a few years" the flame of Nikola Tesla's genius will weld one more astounding new device for mankind. Tesla was featured on the cover of Time Magazine on July 20th, 1931. and the article cited:
"To Nikola Tesla, all the world's a powerhouse. For 40 years he has been reasoning, calculating, and arguing that the earth has a definite electrical resonance. All that men need to do to have unlimited power at their command, and that power without the necessity of transmission wires, would be to generate electricity in tune with the earth's. The generators might be at waterfalls, coal mines, anywhere. Only possible drawbacks would be the vast expense of installation and the fact that every powerhouse on earth would be obliged to generate the same kind of current, and anyone could tap the current. There could be no financial control of electricity.”

Numbers 3, 6, 9 have a special meaning for Tesla
Tesla paid special attention to the numbers 3, 6, and 9 and their significance. He was known for dividing everything into threes and insisting on 18 napkins for the dinner table. The result of dividing a circle (360 degrees = 3 + 6 = 9) would always equal 3, 6 or 9, no matter how many times you divided it. A great deal of significance is attached to these three numbers in many different fields of knowledge, from mathematics to physics to spirituality and philosophy. Following Swami Vivekananda's lectures, Tesla was particularly intrigued by the 24 (Number 6) principles of Sankhya philosophy.

Not only do the Vedas describe the beginning of the universe; they also describe a continuous creative process that is present and never-ending. All of creation arises from the interaction of three fundamental principles:
-
Sattva, the creative principle.
-
Rajas, the principle of maintenance; and
-
Tamas, the principle of destruction and transformation.
First elemental principle of Sankhya is Prakriti (procreation) which consists of 3 qualities: light, energy, and matter. He discussed with Vivekananda concepts of Prana - force of energy, Akasha - a force of matter and Kalpa - a force of time. Tesla was struck by the similarities between modern physics and Sankhya theory and continued to study Vedic philosophy for years. Some of its terms were used to describe the physical phenomena he studied (especially prana and akasha).

Tesla famously said: "If you understand 3, 6, 9 significances, you will understand everything."
Ketu Mahadasha (May17th 1934 - May17th 1941)
During the Ketu period, he lived in poverty and obscurity. Edison and Tesla were not awarded Nobel prizes after the rumors (although Edison was one of 38 possible bidders in 1915 and Tesla was one of 38 in 1937). At the time, he was 81 years old. In the fall of that year, while he was making his regular trips in the Manhattan neighbourhood Tesla had an accident. An oncoming taxi was too fast for him to escape. The injuries he sustained went untreated. He was in Ketu Mahadasha, Rahu antardasha (his 6th and 12th house were activated).

Venus Mahadasha (began on May 17th, 1941)
Tesla died on January 7th, 1943, on Orthodox Christmas Day. In his hotel room #3327 (number 3, number, 6, number 9) on the 33rd (number 6) floor of the New Yorker Hotel, he died in his sleep. He was 87 years old.

"Nikola Tesla has died. He died poor, but he was one of the most useful men who ever lived. He has created something great that is becoming even greater as time passes." said New York City Mayor LaGuardia at Tesla's funeral.

The fate of his belongings was shrouded in secrecy and many theories were put forward about what occurred. Several years after his death, his belongings were transferred to Serbia and are housed in the Nikola Tesla Museum at str. Krunska 51 in Belgrade (once more, the number 6 is significant).

We can leave some parts of his life mysterious for as long as we acknowledge and honor his greatness and contributions to this world.
