JOURNAL
President’s Message - CVA Spring Equinox 2025
by Dennis Flaherty
I welcome all Council members to the Spring 2025 CVA Journal. This Journal features an insightful article by CVA member Olya Perkovic. The Astrological Portrait of Princess Diana: Insights into the People’s Princess is an excellent read and study in chart interpretation. It succeeds in documenting the life and times of this beloved member of the British royal family in the 20th century.

The second article continues the Council’s archive project. The CVA is reprising articles from our older paper journals into digital format. This journal features the archived article Chart Interpretation of an Inmate by Marguerite dar Boggia, which is reprised from the May 2006 CVA Journal. Marguerite was a regular contributor to the Council’s early journals and a lifetime member of the CVA.

CVA managing editor Marianne Jacuzzi completes this journal with her Equinox-to-Equinox column. This edition is a clinic in the coming Saturn/Rahu alignment in Pisces which will occur shortly after the solar eclipse of March 29th. Marianne draws from rich historical sources. Her references and research shine a light on this shadowy alignment.

In continuing the celebration of the Council’s 30th anniversary I am honored to present the CVA 30th anniversary awards: The CVA Sangha Award, the CVA Award in Education, and the Lifetime Achievement Award. These awards were last presented at our 20th anniversary conference on June 22nd, 2014. Here are the current recipients of CVA’s 30th anniversary awards:

The 30th anniversary CVA Sangha Award
For outstanding community service on behalf of the Council of Vedic Astrology, the CVA presents this to Michael Alberts. Michael is the manager of the CVA website, operations manager of the CVA Journal, and CVA exam proctor. In today’s digital world, Michael is the CVA’s tech wizard. I have known Michael for over a decade. I can attest to the many hats he wears on behalf of the CVA. He is virtually involved in all aspects of the CVA. You will see his indelible fingerprints everywhere the CVA is present. We on the CVA board extend our congratulations and gratitude to Michael for his years of service to the Council.

The 30th anniversary CVA Award in Education
Since the passing of our honorary chairman, Chakrapani Ullal in 2017, this award has been renamed the CVA Chakrapani Award in Education. This award recognizes the recipient’s contributions in the field of Vedic Astrology. The CVA presents this to James Kelleher. James is one of the seven original founding members of the Council in 1993 and currently serves as provost for the CVA exams. I have known James since the founding of the Council and applaud his involvement with the CVA as a teacher, educator and in his role as CVA Provost. Not all founding members stay on and contribute to the organizations they have founded. James has and continues to contribute to the CVA. We on the CVA board extend our congratulations and appreciation to James for his years of service to the Council.

The 30th Anniversary CVA Lifetime Achievement Award
For outstanding achievement in the field of Vedic Astrology, and on behalf of the Council of Vedic Astrology, I am the grateful recipient of this award. Like my colleague, James Kelleher, I am one of the seven founders of the Council in 1993. I am honored that my peers and colleagues have deemed me to be a worthy recipient of this award. This is the lifetime achievement award of my life.

I wish all CVA members a bright, beautiful Spring Equinox, as this special day celebrates the return of the light north of the equator. The days and the light will increase in the coming months. I urge you to use this time wisely as the season is brilliant, but sadly all too short. In service to the light, If you wish to submit a brilliant article to the upcoming CVA journal please contact Marianne Jacuzzi or myself. We are always looking for astrological articles that illuminate and give hope, especially in times of shadow and doubt.
