The election for a new Board happens this January 2027. Currently there are seven positions, and all are up for election. During the Fall of 2026, you can submit your application for nomination. The CVA holds elections for the Board every four years, so this is a four year commitment. 

 

Your opportunity as a Board member has two parts. First, as a Board member you are an equal leader to all the other Board members. Together you establish the vision and direction of the organization. A new Board can work creatively to ensure the future vibrancy of the CVA. The possibilities are many— organizing conferences, online events, community outreach—all the while maintaining the stability of the CVA financially and organizationally. It is leadership by the whole team. 

 

In your second role as a Board member, you supervise a distinct area of leadership for the CVA. Of the seven positions currently on the Board, six have specific supervisory responsibility. These are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Information and Technology Director and Membership Director. The seventh position is currently “at large,” but may include specific tasks as the new Board begins to identify its work in the year and years ahead.

 

You can view job descriptions here to see which supervisory role would best suit your interests and abilities. In nominating yourself, please indicate your preference. And remember, you need not be a CPA to be CVA Treasurer or an IT expert to direct Information and Technology. It is the responsibility of the Board to name appropriate assistants where they may be needed to carry out technical tasks under the supervision of the Board member.

 

To nominate yourself, write a letter explaining your desire to serve and the skills you can offer. You need to submit as well a letter of support from another CVA member, recommending your qualifications. All current members in good standing of the CVA can stand for election. 15 January 2027 at 12:00 noon PST Certification and Announcement of new Board
